About Lionel Prewar Trains

Lionel Prewar Trains was started by Jeff Schuster in 2007.

In 1940, Jeff's grandfather gave Jeff's father a 1689 locomotive and tender, 2 1690 Pullmans, a 1691 Observation, 2 1692 Pullmans, and a 1693 observation, and the family's love of pre-war Lionel was born.   These trains cars are presently on proud display in the family train room.   Jeffs two sons and daughter, the fourth generation, now play with these trains.

At Lionel Prewar Trains, our specialty is Lionel prewar train cars, accessories, and parts that are original, working, and original finish.  We will service, repair, and rewire these items to get them working.  We generally do not apply paint, and hesitate to use reproduction parts. While not all items on this web site will meet all of these criteria, most will and those that don't will be clearly marked.

We pack all items for shipment with the care these pieces of American history and culture deserve.  All items with original finish will first be wrapped in low acid, archival quality tissue paper, and then with bubble wrap.  Details known to be prone to breakage, such as  markers and pilots, will receive extra padding.  To reduce our environmental impact, re-used packaging, packing, and boxes will be utilized whenever possible.

Our aim is 100% customer satisfaction.   If any item is not as described on our web site, We will refund 100% of the purchase price, plus outbound and return shipping.  If for any other reason you decide you do not want to keep the item, just ship it back for 100% refund of your purchase price less S&H.

We prefer paypal.  Please contact us if you wish to pay by check.  We cannot accept credit cards at this time.

Always happy to combine shipping.  Additional items ship for $1 plus any increase in shipping cost.  Expedited shipping available, contact us for price.

If there are any items or parts you are looking for just ask, we may have them.
