LIONEL PREWAR 45 GATEMAN

 

This is a nice operating accessory.  As the train goes by, a switch operated by the weight of the train caused the door to open, and the gateman to come out, swinging his lantern. 

 

Lionel offered the 45 gateman from 1937 - 1942, and again after the war in 1945.  This is the prewar TYPE IV version from 1938.   

 

This example is complete, all original, and in working condition and includes a solid original box.
